We are delighted to announce that the South London Cardiac ODN was recognised at the 2023 HSJ Digital Awards on 22 June in two categories for its implementation of a remote digital monitoring service for patients awaiting cardiac surgery.

The network received “highly commended” recognition within the Supporting elective recovery category, and was shortlisting in Optimising clinical pathways category.

The ODN project worked with its North London ODN counterpart and NHS England to procure and implement Ortus, a remote monitoring system, for cardiac surgery patients which could potentially be scaled to other services and sites.

Used both pre and post procedure, it could escalate clinical intervention for those waiting, whilst encourage safe early supported discharge for those who have received their surgery.
