On Wednesday 12th June 2024, Dr. Kathryn Griffiths presented at UK Kidney Week, hosted by The UK Kidney Association in Edinburgh, Scotland. The event brings together kidney professionals from across the UK to network, share knowledge, and explore the latest advancements in kidney healthcare.

Representing King’s College London, Lewisham and Greenwich Population Health and Social Care Team, and the South East London Integrated Care Board, Dr. Griffiths delivered an engaging presentation on innovative approaches to sustainable CKD prevention in primary care. She shared data from a year-long rollout of targeted remote digital albuminuria testing in high-risk groups. Out of 2,364 tests conducted, 820 showed abnormal results, including 501 cases without pre-existing disease. Dr. Griffiths also highlighted the connection between hypertension and diabetes, emphasising the importance of targeted testing for high-risk groups. More details can be found in the remote digital albuminuria testing poster.

Dr. Griffiths also presented a poster on using a linked database to identify disparities in Chronic Kidney Disease within a diverse population. This method, used by the Lewisham and Greenwich Population Health and Care Team, helps identify patients with uncoded CKD and stratify them by co-morbidities. As a result, patients with uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes, and uncoded CKD are now referred to specialist nurses for comprehensive cardiovascular reviews. For more information on this, view the poster on using linked databases to identify disparities in Chronic Kidney Disease within a diverse population.

Congratulations to Dr. Kathryn Griffiths for showcasing her important work at this esteemed event!
